Believe and Do the Impossible: Living a Life That Trusts God Completely

November 8, 2025

There comes a point in every believer’s journey when God invites us to step beyond what feels safe or familiar—to trust Him for the impossible. When we don’t believe for the impossible, we stop relying on the Lord. Over time, self-reliance becomes the quiet throne we sit on, and we become the god of our own lives. The result is always lack—lack of peace, wisdom, rest, abundance, and a sound mind.

Faith pulls us back into alignment.
Scripture reminds us that “without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6). True faith is not simply believing in God—it is believing and doing what God has said.

It’s Not Our Strength—It’s His Glory

Miracles are never about what we can produce with our own abilities. They are meant to reveal His power, His strength, His glory. The moment we try to carry what only He can accomplish, the burden becomes too great.

This is why, standing at the Red Sea with the Egyptian army closing in, Moses instructed the Israelites to move forward. Obedience always precedes breakthrough.

Jesus: The Model of Perfect Submission

The wedding at Cana (John 2:3–5) marks the first recorded miracle Jesus performed. What makes this moment extraordinary isn’t just the water turned to wine—but the unwavering submission that made the miracle possible.

Mary’s words were simple—and powerful:

“Whatever He says to you, do it.”

This is the foundation of every miracle.
Hearing → Believing → Obeying.

Jesus Himself did nothing outside the Father’s instruction. He modeled faith paired with perfect surrender—teaching us that submission is not weakness; it is the doorway to supernatural power.

Many people believe but struggle to obey because of fear or pride. Both hinder the miraculous.

Two Ditches That Kill Faith

The enemy loves to push believers into one of two extremes:

Hearing without doing
Doing without hearing

Both lead to failure.

James 1:22 warns that hearing the Word but refusing to act results in deception. In the same way, acting without God’s direction leads to powerlessness and frustration.

Faith must be led by the Holy Spirit.

The greatest spiritual problem can be summed up in two simple words:

Won’t listen.

Prayer Gives Us God’s Instructions

Even Jesus prayed continually—sometimes all night—to receive direction from the Father. If the Son of God required this posture, how much more must we?

When we fail to pray, we behave as though we don’t need His guidance.

Romans 10:17 teaches that faith comes by hearing God’s Word. His Word carries inherent power—power to perform itself. There are no limits in His Word.

When People Act Without God

Hebrews 11:29 contrasts the faith of Israel with the presumption of Egypt.
Israel stepped into the Red Sea by faith—because God told them to go. The Egyptians attempted the same route without God’s command—and drowned.

Same path.
Different outcomes.

The Israelites followed the Word of the Lord.
The Egyptians resisted the Word of the Lord (“Let My people go”).

Obedience led to deliverance; rebellion led to destruction.

Never do what God has not instructed you to do.
You must hear God for yourself.

You Are Called to Believe for Big Things

The covenant we have in Christ compels us to believe beyond our limits:

  • Christ redeemed us from the curse — Galatians 3:13–15

  • We are blessed to be a blessing — Genesis 12:2

  • We are given precious promises — 2 Peter 1:2–4

  • God does above all we can ask or imagine — Ephesians 3:20

  • His promises are Yes and Amen — 2 Corinthians 1:20

His promises are not empty—they are alive with power.

The Red Sea Miracle — Exodus 14

God positioned Israel in a place that looked impossible. Pharaoh believed they were trapped, yet God was setting the stage to display His glory.

As the army approached, fear gripped the people, but Moses declared:

“Don’t be afraid. Stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today.” (v. 13)

God then told Moses:

“Tell the people to get moving!” (v. 15)

The waters parted.
Dry ground appeared.
Israel walked through.
Deliverance came.

When Egypt tried to follow without God’s instruction, confusion struck and the waters swallowed them. Israel watched God’s power unfold and placed their faith in Him and in Moses.

God still leads His people into victorious deliverance today.

Keep Moving Forward

Faith is a journey of forward motion.

Even when the sea has not yet opened—even when the answer hasn’t arrived—God calls us to step. The impossible becomes possible when we choose to trust His voice.

Whatever He speaks—
do it.
And watch Him make a way.
